A Little Night Music

now closed
(2010 review, starring Bernadette Peters and Elaine Stritch)

What the popular press said...

"Peters, gorgeous though her “Send In the Clowns” certainly is, does not always inflect her performance with glinting suggestions of the real depths in Desirée’s heart."
Charles Isherwood for New York Times

"The Stephen Sondheim-Hugh Wheeler musical is aglow with a brilliant and irresistible warmth."
Joe Dziemianowicz for New York Daily News

"With everybody firing on all cylinders, Nunn's spare, twilit staging finally makes sense."
Elisabeth Vincentelli for New York Post

"It is lucky enough when a replacement cast can match the original one; it is more than serendipitous when the newcomers surpass their predecessors."
John Simon for Bloomberg

"Is it worth a trip back? You bet."
Erik Haagensen for Back Stage

"The main reason to catch the show, however, would be the chance to see a couple of Broadway's authentic grandes dames doing their stuff."
Robert Feldberg for The Record

"This is a masterful work, masterfully performed."
Roma Torre for NY1

"The glittering presence of Peters and Stritch boost an already brilliant occasion into an unforgettable time."
Michael Sommers for Newsroom Jersey

"Has gotten a whole lot brighter,"
Frank Scheck for The Hollywood Reporter

"Peters and Elaine Stritch in the cast, this new edition of "Night Music" transforms a lackluster revival. "
Steven Suskin for Variety
