Cast and creative team members of the 1985 American adventure-comedy film The Goonies gathered recently to help launch the 25th Anniversary DVD release of the movie.

Speaking to the press the movie's director, Richard Donner, said, "There's a great writer / producer called Tim Long who does musicals on The Simpsons which are classic. He just delivered a treatment of The Goonies as a musical, and it's friggin' great!"

The Goonies, screenplay by Chris Columbus based on an idea by Steven Spielberg, tells the story of a group of teenage friends who are all members of a teenage society called The Goonies. The kids live in Astoria, Oregon, and face foreclosure on their families' homes from the expanding Astoria Country Club. While rummaging through an attic they find a map that indicates buried treasure. The treasure lies in a cavern underneath the home of the evil Fratelli family. The Goonies must outwit the Fratelli's while surviving the many booby traps that protect the secret treasure.

There has been no official announcement.
