Second Stage Theater has announced further details of the company's inaugural Broadway production at The Hayes Theater, which was purchased by 2ST in 2015. The previously announced revival of Academy Award winner Kenneth Lonergan's Lobby Hero, directed by Trip Cullman, will begin previews on March 1, 2018, before an official opening on March 26.

In addition, Emmy Award nominee Brian Tyree Henry will take on the role of William and join previously announced "Captain America" star Chris Evans, making his Broadway debut as Bill, and "Scott Pilgrim vs. the World" star Michael Cera, who will take on the role of Jeff.

Lobby Hero

Brian Tyree Henry is perhaps best known for his TV role as as Alfred Miles on the FX series “Atlanta.” He made his Broadway debut and originated the role of The General in 'The Book of Mormon' in 2011. He earned an Emmy Award nomination this year for his guest appearance on "This Is Us" and other screen credits include "Vice Principals," "Boardwalk Empire," "My America," and "How to Get Away with Murder."

Synopsis: "What happens when emotions come in conflict with principles, and how do choices under pressure define who we really are? The lobby of a Manhattan apartment building is much more than a waiting area for four New Yorkers involved in a murder investigation. It's a testing ground for what happens when personal and professional personas find themselves at odds. A young security guard with big ambitions clashes with his stern boss, an intense rookie cop and her unpredictable partner."

The creative team behind Lobby Hero features scenic design by David Rockwell, costume design by Paloma Young, lighting design by Japhy Weideman, sound design by Darron L West.

This will be followed by a new production of Young Jean Lee's Straight White Men, directed by Anna D. Shapiro, which is expected to begin performances in July 2018 at The Hayes Theater. Lee will make history as the first female Asian-American playwright to ever be produced on Broadway.
