We recently caught up with Golden Globe and 4-time Emmy Award nominee Matthew Perry and his co-star Jennifer Morrison to discuss their off-Broadway debut in Perry's self-penned comic-drama The End of Longing at the Lucille Lortel Theatre.

Matthew Perry made his West End debut with the play at London's Playhouse Theatre in 2016. Aside from his iconic role as Chandler Bing in Friends, his most notable screen credits include The Whole Nine Yards, 17 Again, Fools Rush In, The Odd Couple, Go On, Mr. Sunshine, Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip, Serving Sara, Three to Tango and Almost Heroes.

Jennifer Morrison previously appeared on Broadway in The Miracle Worker in 2010. She is best known for her TV roles as Emma Swan in Once Upon a Time and Dr. Allison Cameron in House. Other screen credits include Star Trek, Warrior, Amityville: The Awakening and How I Met Your Mother.

Thomas Hayden Millward: Congratulations on securing the Lucille Lortel Theatre for your upcoming off-Broadway debut, both as a playwright and a performer, Matthew. How was the out-of-town tryout in that little town of London?

Matthew Perry: (Laughs) Oh, it was quite good! We had fun and I think its an even better play now.

THM: And of course now, there is a new American cast with you. Out with the old and in with the new, as they say. How does it feel to be working with new actors?

MP: Its really fun! Its fun to have a new version of the play. This is a brand new script with a new cast well, except for me. I was in both. But other than that, its a brand new version of it and its exciting!

THM: And Jennifer, did you manage to catch the show in London and how does it feel for you taking over the role of Stephanie?

Jennifer Morrison: I didnt see it in London unfortunately, but Ive been having a great time! I love the character. I was drawn to her immediately. Im so excited to be working with Matthew and its just been a great process so far.

THM: Now, I did see The End of Longing in London and there were a lot of funny, risqu anecdotes in the play which I wont spoil now but I was just wondering how many of those were based on true events, Matthew?

MP: (Laughs) A lot of them are true! But I wont tell you exactly which ones!

THM: Say no more. Well, I wish you both all the very best with the off-Broadway engagement.
