Once and For All... at the Duke On 42nd Street

The New 42nd Street and The New Victory Theater present Once and For All We’re Gonna Tell You Who We Are So Shut Up and Listen, a play about adolescence as seen through the eyes of 13 teenagers. The play won the Herald Angels, Total Theatre and Fringe First Awards at the 2008 Edinburgh Festival Fringe

Once and For All..., directed by Alexander Devriendt, will be presented by The New Victory as part of the 2010 Under The Radar Festival and will run at The Duke on 42nd Street from 8 - 17 Jan 2010.

In keeping with their collaborative approach, creators Ontroerend Goed and KOPERGIETERY (Belgium) and Richard Jordan Productions (UK) developed the play with input from the teen performers. The result is a collage of text and physical theater set to a soundtrack of “defiance” rock, punk and classical music that underscores the theme of teen rebellion.

“I react against the meekness, the poetry, the melancholy that is connected with ‘the adolescent,’” said Once and For All..., Alexander Devriendt. “This age has so much roughness. I seldom see people pointing that out. It’s in this period that you take the freedom to be rude, fully conscious that you will be forgiven for that for a while.”

The cast includes Aaron De Keyzer, Barbara Lefebure, Charlotte De Bruyne, Christophe De Poorter, Dina Dooreman, Edith De Bruyne, Edouard Devriendt, Elies Van Renterghem, Febe De Geest, Helena Gheeraert, Ian Ghysels, Koba Ryckewaert, Fée Roels, Zeno Fieremans and Nathalie Verbeke.

Text in Once and For All... is by Joeri Smet, Alexander Devriendt and the actors. Scene and costume design is by Sophie De Somere, sound design is by Stijn De Gezelle and light design is by Jeroen Doise.
