A revival of Frank Wildhorn’s Jekyll & Hyde is expected to arrive on Broadway in the Spring of 2013, following a 25-week tour, which will begin at San Diego's Civic Theatre on 2 Oct 2012 before arriving on the Great White Way.

The production will star Tony nominee Constantine Maroulis (Rock of Ages) in the dual role of 'Dr. Henry Jekyll' and 'Mr Edward Hyde,' and will be directed and choreographed by Jeff Calhoun (Newsies, Bonnie & Clyde, Grease).

The musical is based on the classic 19th century British novella 'The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde,' by the Scottish author Robert Louise Stephenson. It tells the story of gentle Dr Jekyll, who while experimenting on himself to discover a cure for his father's mental illness, changes into the animalistic Mr. Hyde.

The musical was conceived for the stage by Frank Wildhorn and Steve Cuden, and features music by Wildhorn (Bonie & Clyde, Wonderland), with book and lyrics by Leslie Bricusse.

Jekyll & Hyde had its Broadway premiere in 1997, playing a total of 1543 regular performances at the Plymouth Theatre (now the Gerald Schoenfeld Theatre). Directed by Robin Phillips and choreographed by Joey Pizzi, it starred Robert Cuccioli as 'Dr. Henry Jekyll' and 'Mr Hyde.' The production was nominated for four Tony Awards, including Best book (Leslie Bricusse) and Best Actor (obert Cuccioli).
