The Manhattan Theatre Club's Broadway revival of Samson Raphaelson’s Accent on Youth concludes its limited engagement on 28 Jun 2009. When the show closes it will have played 24 previews and 71 regular performances.

Accent on Youth opened at the Samuel J. Friedman Theatre on 29 Apr 2009, following previews from 7 Apr 2009, for a limited enagement through to 28 Jun 2009.

Accent on Youth: Successful playwright Stephen Gaye (David Hyde Pierce) is about to abandon his latest script, when his young secretary offers him new inspiration. With her as his muse, he stages the show on Broadway, only to learn, to his dismay, that the show’s young leading man is being inspired by her too.

The play opened to mixed reviews: "with its remarkable cast and Daniel Sullivan's deft direction, the play moves as quickly as Twitter." (newyorktheatreguide.com); "will suffice for an afternoon of diversion" (NY Times); "leaden production" (NY Post); "sparkling Broadway revival" (Bloomberg); "frothy but engaging comedy" (USA Today); "more than dutiful, but less than scintillating." (NewsDay); "it’s amusing and charming" (The Record); "there's not much substance beneath its mild charms" (Variety)

Directed by Daniel Sullivan Accent on Youth features David Hyde Pierce (Stephen Gaye), Charles Kimbrough (Flogdell), Lisa Banes (Miss Darling), Mary Catherine Garrison (Linda Brown), Byron Jennings (Frank Galloway), Rosie Benton and David Furr.

The creative team features John Lee Beatty (set design), Jane Greenwood (costumes), Brian MacDevitt (lighting) and Obadiah Eaves (sound).

Accent on Youth premiered at the Plymouth Theatre (now called the Gerald Schoenfeld Theatre) in 1934.
